Introducing The RittFit Guide: A List Of The Gyms, Studios & Clubs Offering Strength Training, HIIT, Boxing, MMA & More
December 27, 2024/
From serious combat sports to guided stretching, Rittenhouse offers everyone every opportunity to find what motivates them.
There are many things we like in the world but one of the top things is having options to choose from. And as any Rittenhouse denizen will tell you, there are MANY options in our neighborhood, especially when it comes to fitness and health.
We’ve compiled a list of the gyms, clubs, studios, and more in the area to explore to either get fit, stay fit, or have fun. These have been organized by category and then by alphabetical order, and include details that we would want to know.
We’ve broken down the fitness offerings into the following categories:
Boutique Gyms: These are intimate gyms that offer specialized and/or 1-on-1 training and classes.
Classic Gyms: These are your classic gyms offering equipment and classes.
Combat Sports: These are the boxing, kickboxing, Muy Thai, and MMA gyms available in the neighborhood.
Health Clubs: These have fitness equipment and classes, but are also places to co-work, hang, and/or socialize. Not included on this list? The ones where membership is limited and/or subject to approval, such as The Fitler Club, The Racquet Club, and The Union Club.
HIIT Classes: These studios offer strength training and cardio classes with options to pay-per-class or buy a package.
Spin Classes: These are the spin-centric studios that have drop-in classes and ride packages.
As you can see, this list does NOT include Yoga because that deserves its own list, as does Pilates – that one you can findhere.
ALSO: Prices are subject to change as these were pulled off sites or other links that may be outdated.
But everything else? Find them in alphabetical order below, in their respective categories, along with special discount offers and note that the back of the cards link to their respective websites for more info.

What we like: FULL DISCLOSURE: We have been members for years. We love the semi-private classes, and that the trainers adjust each exercise for specific needs, thus giving you the benefit of personal training in a group setting. The camaraderie and social gatherings are kind of like icing on the cake.
Membership options: You have to fill out a form to get pricing details but know they offer packages that vary from private training with semi-private and conditioning classes included, to semi-private 8x, 12x, and 16x monthly packages that include conditioning classes. Contracts also vary; there are both monthly and 6-month commitment options. (link)

Membership options: Month-to-month packages are offered but prices are not listed on the site. They also offer massage packages. (link)
What they offer: Negative/eccentric weight training, a lesser-known import from Sweden (in comparison to Ikea, i.e.). It’s a form of exercise that uses a patented tilting weight stack with the focus being on the lowering of a particular move.
Mantra: “The most challenging half hour of your life.”
What we like: It sounds quite exciting! They promise to change your body in a 30-minute session, once a week. Philly Mag covered it back when it opened in 2018. Fun fact: each machine costs between $11K to $15K.
Membership options: Many choices here! $97 for one session, 5 sessions for $475, 10 sessions for $930, 20 sessions for $1,760, and 30 sessions for $2,499. Each session is 30 minutes long. (link)

New member offer: 1 week for free!
Other notes: They offer mostly evening classes so it seems like a nice compliment to other activities/fitness options.
What they offer: It’s Planet Fitness! So you get access to all of the equipment (cardio machines, weights) plus tanning beds at a low, low, low, low price.
Mantra:”Judgement Free Zone”
What we like: The pricing is transparent.

What they offer: This is the luxury gym from NYC known for its premium classes, vibes, and eucalyptus towels.
Mantra: “Where Luxury and Fitness Meet.”
What we like: Options are great to have! Haven’t seen the gym yet but based on the other locations we’ve been to, we expect it to be just as sexy, with tons of classes, top-of-the-line machines, equipment, a pool, hot tubs, and a members-only lounge.
Membership options: For the one location we’re hearing that it’ll be a $300 initiation fee + around $200 a month.

The result is a beautiful health club that spans 3 floors, with state-of-the-art cardio machines, equipment, a running track, a basketball court, pickleball, and more. You can see our full article, albeit when it was still under construction here.

New member offer: Complimentary guest passes and a free golf, pickleball, squash, or swimming lesson, as of the time of publishing this article.
Other notes: The entrance is tricky to find at first because you enter through the parking garage. Also, some of the more popular classes fill up FAST. Plus, they do have golf SIMS but their use is not covered by the membership.
What they offer: Barry’s is, for the most part, considered the OG for HIIT classes. Specializing in bootcamp workouts that happen in a literal red room, this location has a custom smoothie fuel bar.
Mantra: “The best workout in the world”
What we like: Sweating is NOT optional. We also like the options for themed classes like a Taylor Swift class, and ones that focus on arms, lower body, etc.
Membership options: 1 class is $33, then start at $160 for 5, to 50 for $1,395, or you can purchase a membership that starts at $225 for 8 classes a month. (link)
What they offer: It’s CrossFit! No explanation is needed in our opinion.
Mantra: “Today’s impossible, tomorrow’s warm-up”
What we like: Feeling like a champ, especially if we’re lucky enough to be able to jump backward from a tall box. To aid us in our goals they happen to offer 3 1:1 30-minute sessions with a coach so we won’t embarrass ourselves in class.

What they offer: Orangetheory is also a franchise and their HIIT classes are about achieving different “zones,” or heart rate levels.
Mantra: “MORE confidence. MORE Life. More than a gym.”
What we like: Interval classes are rarely boring and sweating is also not optional.
Membership options: 1 class is $30, $99 gets you 4 classes a month, $149 gets you 8 per month, and $209 per month gets you unlimited classes. No contracts. They do have class packages too, starting at $250 for 10. (link)

Membership options: Individual classes are $35. Other options include class and monthly options. Monthly options start at 4 rides per month for $129 while packages start at a 5-pack for $169. They also have an unlimited monthly option for $229. (link)
New member offer: $10 for your first ride BUT they are offering a free 1st ride per their Insta at the time of publishing.
What they offer: SoulCycle is, for the most part, the OG of spin. So think themed rides, rockstar instructors with motivational speeches, tap-backs, etc.
Mantra:”We move people to move the world.”
What we like: The themed rides go beyond music with classes such as “glow-in-the-dark,” and “hot girl humpday,” plus that fresh, custom scent that never gets old (to us, at least).
Membership options: 1 class is $32, and they now have monthly prices in addition to the classic packages! Monthly costs start at 4 classes per month for $113 while packages start at 5 classes for $158. (link)
