Thanal’s Owners Are Opening Up Topside Tavern At The Old Farmer’s Keep Location At 10 S 20th St

Closed since the pandemic, the restaurant is being transformed into an American tavern with its farmhouse vibes intact, complete with a rooftop.

The old Farmer’s Keep building, which has a great rooftop and location (20th Street and Ludlow) is coming back, with its farmhouse vibe intact as Topside Tavern.

We heard work had started at the old Farmer’s Keep building so we kept an eye out for deets which came on Friday from The Philadelphia Business Journal who reported that the owners of Thanal Indian Tavern planned on launching a pub/tavern at the Farmer’s Keep location. It was a casual restaurant that wasn’t able to reopen, even after being featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives (we don’t miss pandemic times – that was particularly rough for the hospitality industry!)

Topside Tavern is looking for a chef, however, the owners do have a vision.

“The restaurant and bar will serve American cuisine with a drink menu featuring cocktails, beer and wine. Although the menu is not yet finalized, Kuselan wants it to include burgers, sandwiches such as a New York strip steak sandwich, pita, healthy salads and a few “unique” items.”

The rooftop lends itself well to a bar as there is a dearth of them in the Rittenhouse area, so thinking this will do well. Looking forward to seeing it come to life sooner rather than later as the owners are optimistic about it opening up this summer.
