The Cutest Pasta “Lab” In Center City, DaMò, Has Now Come To 21st & Chestnut

The Washington Square West eatery brings its warm, casual vibe to 100 S 21st St.

We’re kind of envious of our neighbors closer to 21st St and Chestnut because, after years of experiencing empty storefronts, a slew of casual and excellent food options have opened up. The latest? DaMò Pasta Lab, the second Philly location for the beloved Washington Square West casual Italian spot.

DaMò offers customized pasta dishes and replaces pizza spot Rione. It also joins the side of 21st Street that has Korean donut and hotdog spot Mochi Ring and another recent new arrival, Taste of Spain. Note that these three restaurants are sandwiched between the only bodega in the area with beer and The Hart of Catering, which offers take-out options in addition to catering.

Along with the popular coffee/jewelry/co-working space Alchemy Coffee, this street could be crowned the international plus casual food row for Rittenhouse.

Fun fact: The eatery is owned by Italian couple Danilo D’Eugenio and Monica Fenocchio who launched the first location at 12th and Sansom back in 2019. We caught Danilo personally manning the register on the day they opened.

The space itself is lovely and comfortable, reflecting their approach to hospitality: warm, inviting, and intimate.

You order at the kiosk at the back of the restaurant or in advance, we’re sure. Their other location offers pasta and sauces to go, so we’re not sure if they have that yet here. Clearly, we’ll have to go back for, um, research purposes.

Below are their temporary opening hours so be sure to check in advance to see if they are current.

We’re excited to see that stretch of 21st Street has come together so nicely with plenty of take-and-go options that, as lazy chefs, there are plenty of options for great food and experiences.
