The Neighborhood’s Coffee Options Continue to Expand as Black Turtle Coffee Softly Opens in the Long-Vacant Le Bus Space

A rising star in the Philly coffee scene, the community-focused shop has opened its second location in the neighborhood, nicely filling in 18th Street.

October continues to bring the treats as Black Turtle Coffee opens up it’s 2nd coffee shop in the neighborhood, sliding into smoothly into the long vacant Le Bus space, whose owners also operate nearby restaurant Kook Burger, known for its burgers and crazy shakes.

Known for its community focus and intense focus on crafting incredible coffee, Black Turtle Coffee offers delicious lattes that complement the other offerings in the area, making it a worthy option for a coffee run.

The shop has some casual seating upfront, to the right as soon as you walk in, along with more seating in the back.

Near the window you’ll find their origin story, ethos, and in-depth info on what “the 4th wave” means in the world of coffee.

The coffee and non-coffee drinks menu offers signature latte drinks (Irish Cream Caramel! Banana Nut!) and non-coffee classics such as Matcha and Chai lattes. However, the brand is known for its careful brewing techniques, so we wouldn’t sleep on any of their regular coffees.

They also have breakfast pastries such as butter and vegan (!!) croissants, and more filling items such as avocado toast and breakfast sandwiches.

The shop has a wide array of art on the walls that may seem eclectic but is meaningful to the cofounders, so be sure to ask the team!

Fun fact: On opening day the Black Turtle team had these photos created by Framebridge, which also opened up on the same street this weekend.

The seating in the back area is minimalist with a focus on different groupings of art.

We hear the store will be open as early as 6 am until possibly 7 pm but they are still in soft opening mode so be sure to follow them on social to stay in the know.
