Tech-Decked & Glowing: Five Iron Golf Returns With Spacious Bays, New Furniture & Upgraded Trackman simulators
The return of the neighborhood golf sims OG comes on the news of a new 5I concept planned for nearby Three Logan Square.
For some of us still trying to get the ball in the hole in one shot (we hear it’s all in the hips) or stay competitive, Five Iron Golf is a great place just to be. It’s also super busy at key periods throughout the year so hearing it was getting a major glow-up was unsurprising.
Earlier this month the first Philly Five Iron Golf that launched in 2020 (!!) reopened after 8-ish something weeks and it’s looking good! Most importantly, though, the great staff and some of the nerdiest golf enthusiasts you will ever meet are still there.
Regulars will notice right away that there is new furniture and each bay is individually unique with its own set of chairs or sofa.
There are fewer bays now but they ones that are there are more spacious. The Trackman tech at each one has been upgraded, so no more rickety box that looks like a speaker table, sorry. And the tech is a major upgrade: it’s faster, more accurate, and is much easier for both lefties and righties.
The area that had the kids’ putting green and fitting area, which moved to the Fishtown location back in 2022, has been transformed into a darts nook.
The darts, like the golf, can be leisurely or competitive. Choose wisely.
Hot on the heels of the Rittenhouse opening was a nice surprise: a third Philly Five Iron Golf and one that is being created in partnership with Brandywine Realty Trust at Three Logan Square. From Golf Wire:
Designed with Philadelphia’s thriving corporate community in mind, the Three Logan Square location offers an inviting environment perfect for after-work gatherings and business events. Guests can enjoy cutting-edge Trackman simulators, tour-level Callaway club fitting, a fully stocked bar, and two outdoor patios with ample seating, blending leisure and sophistication in the heart of the city.
Interestingly, Brandywine is subsidizing this as it’s “aimed at bringing a high-end recreational and wellness-focused amenity to premier office buildings” so kudos to them for bringing some interesting amenities to commercial spaces that are also attractive to the neighborhood.
Hearing ETA is early 2025. Until then, enjoy the lovely stocked bar and company at the Chestnut Street location!
