Reading Terminal’s A Taste Of Spain Is Replacing The Long Closed Tampopo At 104 S 21st Street

This outpost of the Reading Terminal Market grocery darling will either fill the void left by Tinto or give us a Little Spain food market.

Update – A Taste of Spain in Rittenhouse is open! Still interested in the backstory? Read on…

Rittenhouse has a plethora of great Mexican restaurants. Mission Taqueria, Rosy’s, El Rey, Jose Pistola’s, Condesa, El Techo, Tequilas (poised for an epic comeback, we’re sure), plus amazing Latin options such as Bolo, El Merkury, Bar Bombón. But more is good, right? Especially Spanish?

A Taste of Spain is expanding from Reading Terminal Market, coming to the Rittenhouse area sometime this year. We don’t have a date yet or the format. That is, will it be similar to what’s in Reading Terminal, with sandwiches, tapas to go, and delicious-looking aged meats, or a casual restaurant, with groceries like Gran Caffe L’Aquila?

It could also be a Spanish Di Bruno’s, giving us more options for meats, cheeses, and other goods, all from Spain, like an intimate, Philly version of NYC’s Mercado Little Spain.

We’re excited it’s coming and hoping it will get the support it deserves as it’s hard for small businesses in the area.

While you wait for deets you can check out their store at Reading Terminal or order delivery via Mercato. They’re also on Instagram here.
